In creating the Jazz model, Saucony worked closely with podiatrists to ensure that the shoes would provide the necessary comfort for runners and withstand long distances.
The triangular lugged sole provided good traction, offering a suspension system similar to the way a piston works, which is still the inspiration for Saucony's outsoles today.

Saucony’s origins date back to 1898. The company’s first factory was established that year in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, USA, not far from Saucony Creek. The logo of the brand represents the course of a stream and its rocks. Founded 2 years after the first Olympic marathon, and one year after the first Boston marathon by 4 young entrepreneurs, the company has always been centered around the race. At the time, there was no high-performance running shoe. Athletes ran with inappropriate shoes, or even barefoot !
Saucony quickly became successful. In 1910, the factory produced 800 pairs of shoes per day. After winning the athletes' hearts, Saucony made a name for herself throughout the country.
The American label now offers new high-performance shoes, and also regularly reissues its bestsellers. The brand also offers a line of sportswear. In 2006, the brand also launched the “Run for good” foundation to help children to engage in an healthy and active lifestyle and fight childhood obesity.
