The world of Courbet is linked to the story of the famous painter Gustave Courbet. A lover of women and nature, Gustave Courbet was also a revolutionary in the Place Vendôme. During the Paris Commune, he voted to move the Vendôme column and designed a monument to the glory of peace to open on the street of the same name. In order to shake up the codes of the Place Vendôme, the Maison Courbet places ecology and ethics at the top of its priorities.The company uses laboratory diamonds in particular. A laboratory-grown diamond has the same properties as a mined diamond. The only difference is how they are formed; their origin, their "alter/native". By using only lab-grown diamonds, Courbet is blazing a trail. One which we hope others will follow, too.
Similarly, when it comes to gold, Courbet studied the different options to choose the most environmentally friendly one. Recycled gold won the day because it avoids the need for mining.
Although Courbet may seem disruptive when it chooses to use only synthetic diamonds and recycled gold, in the manufacture of its jewellery it perpetuates very ancient know-how. In the hands of the craftsmen in their French workshops, the material takes shape and the diamond is revealed.
