John Barbour established the brand J Barbour and Sons in 1894. First years, the English brand realized ¾ of its turnover thanks to the mail order catalog. Quickly popular, the customers commanded Barbour clothes all over the world, in South Africa or Hong-Kong. The company is a family business, and the son of the founder took over the reins of the company after his father’s death. Barbour is always held by the same family today, it is the 5th generation.
