MM6 Maison Margiela
Nonconformist, MM6, sixth line of Maison Margiela is the little sister of the brand, more accessible, but still innovative. Jostling fashion codes by creating a super-modern dressing, the line rethinks the feminine silhouette preserving the principles of technical expertise, simplicity and refusing superfluous.La Maison is strong of a successful history recognized by its peers; it was in 1997 that Martin Margiela leaves The Antwerp Six (grouping of six renowned Belgian designers, precursor of a vanguard and quirky style) after working successively at Jean-Paul Gaultier and Hermès, to create his eponymous brand with his partner Jenny Meirens. Since then, the Maison has grown and now expends by itself, giving free rein to creation consistent with their goal of bringing a modern vision, even vanguard, of feminine fashion.
To do so, one of the themes that are found throughout the seasons, is "breakdown". Under the purpose of rethinking silhouette, MM6 deconstructs the garment to keep what's essential and to rebuild on it. Less intellectual than the collection proposed on fashion show at the official calendar of Paris Fashion Week, MM6 is trying to push the boundaries between art and fashion and proposes a complete look, sharp, yet wearable daily, following Martin Margiela style.
