The Études Homme Fall 2022 collection was inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat. The designer trio of Aurélien Arbet, Jérémie Egry and José Lamali were inspired by his hometown of New York while delving into their own archives to create a mature and fused collection for Études' 10th anniversary. The collection reinvents archival pieces with new inspiration from Basquiat.Etudes continues to celebrate the feistiness and experimental spirit of its quintessential heroes.This new Fall/Winter 2022 capsule chronicles the tawny hues and urgency of the gesture, emulating the haptic quality of its creations through a variety of techniques. Seventeen works are presented in all-over prints, knits, textured silkscreens, patches and embroideries evoking line drawing. Each piece in the capsule echoes Basquiat's own look: sophisticated tailoring, casual sportswear and strong accessories. The Études X Jean-Michel Basquiat collection is a tribute to the artist's iconoclastic and composite style.Once donned, the garments take Basquiat's creations back to where it all began: on the street.

Who is Jean Michel Basquiat?Born in Brooklyn into a family of mixed origins (Puerto Rican on his mother's side and Haitian on his father's), Jean-Michel Basquiat was a very precocious child in languages and drawing.From graffiti to painting, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) was one of the comets of contemporary art. Died of an overdose at the age of 27, this young friend of Warhol elevated street art to the rank of fine art. His work reflects the reminiscences of his family background (his Haitian origins), combined with the influences of pop art. He became one of the great figures of African Americanism in the art world.
Jean-Michel Basquiat produced thousands of works on paper, often intricate.
