L'Exception : Can you introduce yourself?
Geraldine:
My name is Geraldine Canu, I'm 46. I am a mother of 2 children, casting director and photographer. I am from Normandy and I live in Paris .

Can you tell us about your job and where we are?
Geraldine:
I have been a casting director since I was 24 years old. I was lucky enough to work with Philippe Elkoubi for several years, a great casting director that I loved very much, he taught me everything.

We are at Bellanopolis, a place of creation, production, studio rental but above all a place with a very pleasant family atmosphere thanks to Henrik and his team.

This is where I organize my castings, where I give appointments to actors, models, children or other talents to meet the expectations of my clients.

I work mainly for advertising and also artistic projects.

What are the things you love most about your job?
Geraldine:
Human beings, of course! What better job than mine to meet people!
I feed off of what comes out of others, I find it fascinating, what they live, their emotions, their madness, their fear... what they transmit through their acting.

The casting is a collaboration with the person cast, I certainly direct, but we rehearse, we refine together how they will play the scene. I am never bored, I am lucky to do what I love, I am aware of it. Photography brings me a lot too, I like to capture a flaw, a strength, the beauty ... the vulnerability at that precise moment or I press the button.

Are there any difficulties you face in your profession?
Geraldine:
Frankly there are very few difficulties, maybe sometimes fatigue at the end of the day because they can be very intense! And the budgets which unfortunately are not the same as before...

Would you describe your style to me?
Geraldine:
I feel quite classic even though I like to add a strong piece to my outfits, often an accessory (bag, jewelry, lipstick..).
I also think that one should not confuse being fashionable with having style. For example I find very chic a woman in jeans and white shirt, a pair of converse and a blazer. Less is more!

How does your job and your environment influence your style?
Géraldine:
My job brings me to see a lot of people, so a lot of styles that can sometimes inspire me. For my part in casting as the days are long and I am on my feet all the time, I favor simple outfits, basics in which I feel comfortable. (Jeans, shirt, sneakers)

You have been a customer of L'Exception for four years, what brands have you discovered and appreciated at L'Exception?
Geraldine:
I learned about L'Exception through a friend who represented a perfume brand at your store. I immediately loved your selection. And I love discovering new brands. But most of the time it's "basics" that I buy for myself, like this beige cashmere sweater.

My latest purchases are two American Vintage sweatshirts, during the pandemic it was perfect.
But also a black Agnès B. cardigan, a Maison Kitsune sweater for my husband, the last piece was a green APC bag that I love!"And right now, waiting for me in my shopping cart, a Laurence Bras shirt!

What are you looking for when you go to the L'Exception website?
Geraldine:
In general I'm not looking for something in particular but I go for it if I have a crush. I like to wander all over the site, leather goods, cosmetics, perfumes too.

How was your experience at L'Exception?
Geraldine:
I find the site very clear, the point system is good too.
There is really a closeness between the company and the customers, I had to exchange by email once because I had a question and I immediately got a return. That's nice.
