About Baracuta
Baracuta has been around since the 1930s and has been noted for the quality of its mackintoshes. One of its models is called the G9, and it is a jacket. In a way, it is a short mackintosh: its fabric is waterproof and its short cut is adapted to the practice of Golf (hence the G), the sport for which it was designed.
So why is it called the Harrington if it is called the G9? Well, it's a nickname, which was coined much later. In the 1960's, on American television, a soap opera was a huge success: "Peyton Place"! It was the first show to be broadcast in the early evening (prime time as they say). There were 514 episodes of 30 minutes between 1964 and 1969. And one of the characters, played by Ryan O'Neal, was called "Rodney Harrington". And he wore a G9!
