You're all familiar with the fabulous Danish shoe company, Anonymous Copenhagen, founded by Alexander Ziegler Petersen in 2012. It stands out for its commitment to offering timeless pieces while adding a touch of joy and uniqueness. It is primarily known for these minimalist, sophisticated designs. Their approach is based on solid traditional craftsmanship, with the entire shoe-making process carried out by hand, respecting the heritage and traditions of shoemaking.
But did you know that in addition to making beautiful products, they're also committed to the environment and society?

Anonymous Copenhagen puts sustainability at the heart of their brand. Their main objective is to design responsible collections that will last over time.

For example, they are committed to using only sustainable materials and minimizing the use of harmful chemicals. Their leather in particular is responsible, and they are committed to working only with LWG (Leather Working Group) certified tanneries. This label certifies that their leather is a by-product of the food industry, and that the lining is chrome-free.
Anonymous Copenhagen only works with companies committed to REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances), a regulation that controls the use of chemicals. They produce only what is required by customers and their stores, and have eliminated single-use plastic from their shoebox packaging. The brand only works with world-renowned craftsmen for their shoemaking expertise. The entire shoe-making process is carried out by hand, respecting the heritage and traditions of shoemaking.
This non-exhaustive list of their commitments shows just how important reducing the climate impact of their product is to this Danish brand.

Their efforts towards ever more responsible and sustainable fashion have paid off. Indeed, Anonymous Copenhagen has just joined the Positive Impact Company movement: it has been B Corp certified since July. In fact, it's the first footwear brand in Scandinavia to achieve B Corporation certification!

So what is "B Corporation", more commonly known as "B Corp"?
It's a certification that rewards private, for-profit companies ( associations are not eligible) that have a positive societal and environmental impact and are committed to the path of transformation. Their mantra is: "Don't try to be the best company in the world, but the best for the world". To obtain this label, you need to be a member of an association.
To obtain this label, a company must first submit to a free 200-question online questionnaire covering 5 areas with very high standards: governance, employees, communities, the environment and customers.
This questionnaire is called the "Business Impact Assessment" or BIA, and measures the impact of both the organization's business model and operations..
The minimum score is 80/200 to qualify for the label. Of course, after this self-assessment, B-Lab, the non-governmental organization behind the label, verifies and awards the label, which is valid for 3 years.
To give an idea, the average score for companies is around 50.9/200, with Anonymous Copenhagen achieving a score of 95.2/200.
