Manufacturing
The flap clutch is handcrafted with naturally tanned calfskin from Italy and Norway, in La Caserne's Creative Lab. Calf leather is already a proof of high quality. However, in order to achieve the perfection of a beautiful bag whose leather will improve over time, we have chosen to tan it naturally. This means that the leather in your bag is unique thanks to a mix of time, skill and craftsmanship. And of course, non-allergenic, since no chemicals are involved in the process.
Care
As a living material, leather changes, softens and develops a patina over time. Leather is sensitive to natural elements: water, oil, heat, light, too wet or too dry environments. Protect it from prolonged exposure to intense light and heat (direct sunlight, on a heater, etc.) which could alter the color. If the leather gets wet, wipe it immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth. This will prevent staining and blistering. Keep it away from bad influences, give it a frequent vacation and give it all the love it deserves.

Domestique, founded by Bastien Beny and Simon Delacour in 2016, designs accessories, inspired by a reflection on desire and everyday objects. The duo works to create innovative and timeless accessories.

Bastien is the chief designer of Maid. He went through the Ecole de Condé in Paris and the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Sensitive to raw materials, he specializes in luxurious accessories made from natural elements, sometimes recycled: a way for him to counter fast-fashion and overconsumption. Simon is the Director of Strategy and Business Development. He went through the Ecole de Condé in Paris, the Ecole Duperré in Paris and the School of Fine Arts in Milan. Curious by nature, Simon started out as a graphic designer at Alexander McQueen, was a leather goods expert at Beynat & Janniaux, worked for Acne Studios as a product specialist. He now advises independent brands.
