Socque Paris, shoes that are fair and well-made

Discover our brands ECO X CEPTION, brands that are moving in the right direction. We had the chance to chat with Laure, one of the founders of Socque Paris.

Socque Paris is a women's shoe brand inspired by vintage pairs collected with passion by founders Laure and Camille. Committed to a timeless, responsible approach to luxury, the two childhood friends strive to put noble materials and quality at the heart of their project. Responsibility plays a central role in the brand's approach, which sorts its materials according to criteria of sustainability and environmental impact, and thus favors upcycled and recycled materials.

Can you tell us about the beginning of the Socque Paris adventure?

Laure: As a collector of vintage luxury items, and shoes in particular, I've been gleaning vintage treasures for years, as I've traveled and followed my desires. This led me to create my own brand of timeless shoes, inspired by my vintage collection. Since the beginning of my project, I've been committed to a timeless, responsible approach to luxury.

Where does the inspiration for your brand come from?

Laure: We advocate timeless, quality pieces. Thus, our desire is to create shoes that are fair and well-made, that we'll still want to wear 10 or 15 years from now. Drawing our inspiration from vintage shoes, we draw on the old to create the new, immersing ourselves in the great classics of footwear, which we modernize while respecting the attitude of their time.

Can you tell us more about your manufacturing processes and workshops?

Laure: We work with two small family-run workshops in Portugal, who are keen to shake things up, so they agreed to follow us in this project. With them, we test innovative materials, work on reusing our offcuts, favor dormant leather stocks (upcycling), and produce in numbered limited editions.

Can you tell us more about the eco-responsible/ethical materials you use?

Laure: We favor upcycled leathers, sourced from dormant stocks of major houses, and only work with certified tanneries. As for other materials (metal parts, soles, heels, etc.) we source everything locally, within a 40-kilometer radius of our workshops, and use responsible or recycled materials, such as heels made of wood fiber and resin, ribbons made of recycled polyester, or metal parts made of recycled brass.

How does Socque Paris participate in "slow fashion"?

Laure: Collection after collection, we revisit our classics with new materials, to give them a twist or a different attitude, but on the same base. Each model is destined to keep its place, season after season, because it's timeless and crafted to the millimeter. Our ambition is for our customers to keep their shoes for 10 years, caring for them and never getting tired of them. Working with dormant stocks of materials is also a slow fashion process that puts meaning back into the creative process: we create with what we find, rather than putting desire first and material creation second.

How do you see the future of Socque Paris?

Laure: To become the benchmark shoemaker for all women who share our commitment and sensitivity to beautiful objects.
